Llansantffraed, Wales: the present (Victorian) Church of St Bridget, Llansantffraed juxta Usk. Henry Vaughan 'The Silurist' (1621-1695), poet and hymn writer, is buried in the churchyard. Henry penned the words for the hymn, My soul, there is a country far beyond the stars. His twin brother of Thomas Vaughan, (1621-1666), alchemist and poet, was appointed Rector of Llansantffraed c.1644. |
