Kouros of Kroisos

Find-spot: found at Anavysos (though base and statue need not go together). (Kouros apparently found at Anavysos in 1936; seized by Greek police in Paris and returned to Greece in 1937).

Athens, National Museum 3851 (kouros) and 4754 (base).

Inscription

'Stay and mourn at the sema for dead Kroisos whom violent Ares destroyed, fighting in the front rank'.
